Collaborations
I am interested in collaborating with people working in different arts disciplines. I have been collaborating with visual artist Pat Hodson and poet Liz Cashdan since 2004.
Digital Notebooks (2009) is our most recent collaboration began with a months Artists Residency in SkagastrÓ§nd in Northern Iceland in August. A resulting exhibition has just finished in Sheffield as part of the 2009 Off the Shelf Literary festival.
A Herbal Notebook (2008), was a site-specific piece for a Walled Garden in Cheshire. It consisted of a book of images and text accompanied by a 4 speaker installation.
A Herbal Notebook was exhibited as part of Enquire Within, an exhibition at Norton Priory Museum & Gardens March - May 2008.
Shadows (2006) was concieved from autograph books from the early 1900's that have become family treasures. Concieved in Macromedia Director it uses layers of original images, poetry and sound. As well as a multimedia piece, it is also a book and DVD. To find out more about the book Click Here
Fall of Flower (2004-05) was the first collaboration between Pat, Liz and I. The words were written by Liz Cashdan in response to the image sequence. The music is all original and created as a response to the images, and the words have been recorded and played with. It was exhibited as part of the Sheffield Open Studios in 2005 and consequently as part of the Off the shelf festival and the Cupola Gallery Christmas exhibition.
Other Collaborations
Conversations with Rhythm was a collaborative project between choreographer Lee Dobson and myself. Part of an MA Research Project, this explores the creative processes and relationships between choreographer, musician and Performers using a text based subject. It was performed at the University of Leeds, May 2008. All the sound was created from the spoken word. To see a clip from the performance click here
