Biography

I began to write music whilst at school and continued at University, however I found formal compostition was not my real interest. I was influenced by John Cage's experiments with sound and Steve Reich's difficult rhythmns. I studied Performing Arts and Music at De Montfort University, and began a career in Technical Theatre.

Through my work as a sound technician I began to see what can be achieved with recorded sound and how sounds can be manipulated to do what you want unlike a live performer.

I began to develop my own style of soundscapes during my year studying Music Technology in Manchester. I have since created pieces which have been played on radio, been part of installation projects and as Sound Designs for theatre and performance pieces. I have been collaborating since 2004 with visual artist Pat Hodson, and poet Liz Cashdan on multi - media projects. In 2008 I graduated from the University of Leeds with a MA in Performance Studies and in August of 2009 spent a month in North East Iceland with my fellow collaborators developing a new piece of work. I created a website dedicated to this project, Art in the Freezer.
